Whatever Happened To Thank You Cards?

Nowadays folks invite you to bridal showers, weddings, receptions, baby showers, birthday parties, and other “gift giving” occasions and you never get a thank you for the gift. Sure you had a good time ore at least it was a decent time but is that a reason not to send a thank you note? What happened to sending thank you notes? Is there a thinking process involved in deciding not send a personal note? Maybe it goes like this: First you make it low priority on the “things to do list”, then after putting it off for too many weeks or months maybe the gift receiver just decides it’s been too long and thinks the gift giver won’t even notice (cracked) that they didn’t get a thank you card (they do!). But what happens in the mind of the gift receiver when the next gift-giving occasion arrives? Do they think about they never sent the thank you note for the last gift or are they just oblivious to “it might have been a good idea” to send out those last thank you cards? I don’t think they think about it at all. It’s never bought up and on the next occasion they get the gifts and don’t send a thank you card again. Now some people may think the thank you card is “antiquated”, but personally speaking there’s something warm and fuzzy about a thank you card. Just a really good feeling that comes over you when someone sends you a note acknowledging your time, your presence and your gift are important and appreciated. I always wonder whatever happened to the courtesy of sending the thank you card, since the instances that I get one nowadays is so few and far between. But I especially wonder when I receive a thank you card from my niece. She has a husband, a 2 year old, a household and a management position. With everything she’s responsible for she always finds the time to “promptly send thank you notes”. In this day and age she is a breath of fresh air. Now she is not the only thank you I receive but the promptness is amazing, with everything else she has to do. P, Thanks for the card and the pic!
